Organisers: Sing Ireland in cooperation with the European Choral Association
EuroChoir is a special choir project to promote the networking of talented young singers at the European level, and to foster the emergence of the next generation of talents.
Organised every year in a different country, EuroChoir offers the opportunity to young singers to get together to rehearse a challenging program with renowned conductors, improve their vocal skills and present the results of their work in public concerts.
Deadline for applications: 20 May 2020
For the years 2019 to 2021, we designed a cycle under the direction of one of the emerging talent of the European scene, Yuval Weinberg. The sessions took place in France last year and will be followed by Ireland this year and finally Switzerland.
The program will be of course demanding for singers who like to be challenged, but adapted to the shorter rehearsal time. With more free time, the singers will have a change to enjoy the surroundings of Ireland and form close friendships with each other.
The repertoire is still to be developed and informations are coming soon.
Who can apply?
- Young singers between 18 and 30 years old
- Good sight readers ready to prepare scores in advance
- Singers able to using English as a working language.
Why join the EuroChoir 2020?
Experience summer in Ireland!
Spend ten days of your summer 2020 in Limerick, a major city set in Munster province in the south of the country. Its compact old town is known for it’s medieval style and the fascinating Georgian townhouses. Standing along the River Shannon, the 13th-century King John’s Castle is one of the city’s most recognisable sites. Spend the free time discovering the medieval herritage of the city, discovering the museums or end the day with a crafted beer.
Travel for the performances
While rehearsals will take place in Limerick, the singers will travel the country for their performances, singing in St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church in Galway and Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin. This will allow the participants to see the breathtaking landscapes of Ireland and get the chance to discover the architecture, the cultural life and the Irish spirit.
Experience the EuroChoir!
There are many choirs in Europe, but only one EuroChoir! For over 20 years, this project has allowed singers to build a truly international network of choral friends, sharing their passion and dedication. Of course, the music comes first, with exciting (and sometimes demanding) programme to rehearse and perform in a short time frame. But you will also join the exclusive club of the EuroChoir alumni, many of them now active on the European scene, sharing stages and memories, projects and ideas across borders.
Experience working with Yuval Weinberg!
He studied orchestral conducting in Tel Aviv and choral conducting with Grete Pedersen at the Norwegian Academy of Music and with Jörg-Peter Weigle the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ Berlin.
Yuval has received several awards as a conductor: the first prize at the chamber choir competition in Marktoberdorf 2017 with his Oslo-based chamber choir ‘NOVA’, the prize for the best conductor, the International choral conducting competition in Wroclaw in 2014 and the ‘Gary Bertini Award for young Israeli conductors’ in 2015.
