Pavel Brochin was born in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, and received his first musical education at the boys’ choir school ‘Sveshnikov’ in Moscow. He continued his studies at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, with tuition from Viktor Popov, and graduated with distinction.
After having completed his degree, Pavel Brochin moved to Germany with his wife Irina, having received an invitation from ‘Gymnasium am Oelberg’ in Königswinter-Oberpleis. Within only a short period of time, they set up a children’s choir which went on to become an award-winning choir by the name of ‘Schedrik’. He has also worked as a conductor and musical pedagogue.
Today Pavel Brochin successfully conducts several choirs and regularly works as répétiteur, coach, and jury member. He has worked with the SWR Vocal Ensemble, WDR Radio Choir, the Netherlands Radio Choir and ChorWerkRuhr and concerted as guest conductor with the Estonian Choral Conductors’ Choir and the choir of the Viktor Popov Academy of Choral Art, Moscow. Since 2013 he has been regularly invited by the MDR Radio Choir Leipzig, mainly for rehearsing their Russian repertoire.
Pavel Brochin closely collaborates with the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat. He is artistic director of ECA-EC’s children’s and youth choir festival YOUTH CHOIRS IN MOVEMENT in Bonn and consultant to ECA-EC for cooperation projects with the Russian Federation.
