EuroChoir 2021

Ljubljana, Slovenia | 11 – 25 July 2021

Organisers: Sing Ireland & JSKD  in cooperation with the European Choral Association

EuroChoir is a special choir project to promote the networking of talented young singers at the European level, and to foster the emergence of the next generation of talents.

Organised every year in a different country, EuroChoir offers the opportunity to young singers to get together to rehearse a challenging program with renowned conductors, improve their vocal skills and present the results of their work in public concerts.

For the years 2019 to 2021, we designed a cycle under the direction of one of the emerging talent of the European scene, Yuval Weinberg. The sessions took place in France in 2019  and will be followed by Ljubljana in summer 2021.

The repertoire is still to be developed and informations are coming soon.

Who can apply?

  • Young singers between 18 and 30 years old
  • Good sight readers ready to prepare scores in advance
  • English will be the working language.

Applications for the EuroChoir 2021 end on April 12, 2021!

Why join the EuroChoir 2021?

Yuval Weinberg

He studied orchestral conducting in Tel Aviv and choral conducting with Grete Pedersen at the Norwegian Academy of Music and with Jörg-Peter Weigle the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ Berlin.
Yuval has received several awards as a conductor: the first prize at the chamber choir competition in Marktoberdorf 2017 with his Oslo-based chamber choir ‘NOVA’, the prize for the best conductor, the International choral conducting competition in Wroclaw in 2014 and the ‘Gary Bertini Award for young Israeli conductors’ in 2015.

Bernie Sherlock

She has received numerous international awards for her conducting and interpretation, as well as numerous first prizes with her chamber choir New Dublin Voices. She studied with Ildiko Herboly-Kocsar and Peter Erdei at the Liszt Academy in Hungary and with Gerhard Markson in Dublin. Her jury and workshop engagements have taken her around Europe and to the US, Canada and China. Following her BA in music from Trinity College Dublin she earned Masters (National University of Ireland, Maynooth) and Doctorate (Royal Irish Academy of Music/DCU) degrees in conducting.

Experience the Europa Cantat Festival!

Experience the biggest choral Festival in Europe, with over 50 of the world’s greatest conductors and mentors attending this event to hold workshops adapted to the participants, who are both choral music enthusiasts and professionals. The choral programme lists around 100 choral events and has a diverse accompanying programme of cultural events in Ljubljana, Slovenia that for eight days will live and breathe music.

Experience the EuroChoir!

There are many choirs in Europe, but only one EuroChoir! For over 20 years, this project has allowed singers to build a truly international network of choral friends, sharing their passion and dedication. Of course, the music comes first, with exciting (and sometimes demanding) programme to rehearse and perform in a short time frame. But you will also join the exclusive club of the EuroChoir alumni, many of them now active on the European scene, sharing stages and memories, projects and ideas across borders.
