We are happy to announce the start of a new EU-funded project in which we are partners: BEAT – Bringing Equality, Accessibility, and Togetherness.
Discover the opportunities for you!

BEAT is a project that uses choral music as a tool to promote inclusion and accessibility. It seeks to remove the barriers that prevent (young) people with disabilities from participating in choirs. Through hands-on workshops, an educational toolkit and a multisensory choral performance, the project empowers young people to create open and accessible choral spaces.

The main activities of BEAT are:

  • building a network of inclusive youth choirs
  • collecting examples of good practice on how to include (young) people with disabilities in a choir or how to build an inclusive choir
  • a training workshop in Palermo (IT) in April 2026, at which we will analyse and test examples of good practice and turn them into practical tips and tricks
  • the production of a toolkit on the basis of the results of teh workshop
  • the organisation of local workshops to share the knowledge gained during the workshop
  • multiplier events during which we will share the project results
  • a final inclusive concert in Zaragoza (ES) at the end of 2026

What is in it for you?

  1. Are you involved in an inclusive youth choir or do you know about such a choir?
Please add this choir to our SWAN database which will also serve as basis for building the network of inclusive youth choirs in BEAT
  2. Can you share examples of good practice on how to be inclusive in choirs with (young) people with disabilities?
Do you have special methods, tipps and tricks or success stories that you would like to share with others?
  3. Would you like to join the workshop in Palermo (IT), 23-26 April 2026? We are looking for
    • people who work with inclusive choirs or have experience with including young people with disabilities in regular choirs
    • choreographers or voice trainers who would like to work with an inclusive choir
    • people who are interested in the topic and would like to organise a “local” workshop on this topic in their own country (see below)

and who want to share their experience and learn from their peers.
We will work with a group of 16 people for 3 days (arrival on 23/4 anytime, leaving 26/4 afternoon.
During parts of the workshop we will work with the Cantatutti Inclusive choir from Zaragoza (ES)
We will cover your costs for the travel, accommodation and meals.

  4. Would you like to organise a local workshop around the topic of inclusive youth choirs between May and September 2026?
We will provide the workshop results of the workshop in Palermo as input and will invite one representative of your organisation / choir to join the workshop in Palermo with all costs covered (see above). One of the participants or facilitators of your workshop will be invited to the inclusive concert in Zaragoza in December 2026 with all costs covered.

If you are interested in options 2 to 4 and want to know more about them, please write to SecretaryGeneral@EuropeanChoralAssociation.org

And please feel free to share this information within your own networks!
