75th European Music Festival for Young People

Each spring, around the first weekend of May, the picturesque town of Neerpelt in the green heart of Belgian Limburg, transforms into an international stage for the European Music Festival for Young People. We welcome around 4000 young musicians (up to the age of 28) from across Europe and beyond, having the time of their life for an audience of thousands of visitors.
At the EMJ, you’ll perform for international juries, but also share your music at guest performances, workshops, friendship concerts, parades, shows and open-air events in parks, churches, and public squares.
Yes, there is a jury concert and award ceremony… but EMJ is so much more than that. It’s about connection, cultural exchange, and the friendships that grow when musicians from different countries and backgrounds come together.
From first-time orchestras to conservatoire ensembles and experienced choirs, everyone shares the same stage and the same passion!
The European Music festival for Young People alternates vocal and instrumental editions every year:
- 2026 – Vocal edition for children & youth choirs, all levels of experience (30 April to 4 May)
• 2027 – Special anniversary edition!!! We celebrate our 75th anniversary, so welcome vocal AND instrumental groups to the party (4 to 10 May).
