Database of projects and choirs with and for people with additional needs

SWAN – Singing with Additional Needs

With this database, created during the SWAN project in 2025 – 2026, the European Choral Association wanted to collect and make available existing activities and initiatives for the inclusion of people with additional needs through collective singing in order to inspire and inform the development of new projects and activities.

This database contains over 100 choirs, projects and initiatives in 21 countries. You will find the name of the project, a short description, a link to a website with further information and as far as available a contact e-mail address. You will also see if it is a permanent project / initiative other whether it was a project limited in time, and for most of the projects you will also see which age range it mostly addresses, whether it is a children’s or youth choir project, a project specifically targetting people over 60, or a project open to all ages.

You can search for certain key words, for example a specific country (with the country name in English) or a specific additional need (for example cancer, visual impairment – deafness, visual impairment – blindness, mental disabilities, physical disabilities, multiple disabilities, multpile disabilities, mental illnesses, aphasia, dementia, autism, anxiety …)
