Back in town!
We are refreshing the new tradition and come back to Budapest, the country of Kodály Method. Let us celebrate and promote choral music, let us spread the value and experience of singing in a choir – as Kodály said: Music should belong to everyone!
Come and join our Festival or the competitive part of the event and sing in prestigious music halls in the Hungarian capital city.
Have a look inside – find out where competitions will be held at Laurea Mundi Budapest and the International Honor Choirs, where Artistic Directors Henry Leck, Treble Choir, and Gábor Hollerung, Mixed Choir, will conduct a program celebrating the legacy of Zoltán Kodály which will premiere a new Hungarian composition.
The Palace of Arts, known to Hungarians simply as Müpa is one of Hungary’s best known cultural brands and one of its most modern cultural institutions. It provides perfect home for classical, contemporary, popular and world music concert, festivals, workshops as well and a lot more. What a honor to be back and to show this place to everyone of you!
Budapest Music Center (BMC) was founded by a Hungarian trombone player and academy professor to establish a music information centre which collects and makes information about Hungarian classical and jazz musicians and about contemporary compositions available world-wide. Besides its library function BMC has organized classical, contemporary and jazz events for almost twenty years in Hungary and abroad as well. BMC, in the heart of the cultural and educational district of Budapest with a big concert hall, a cozy jazz club and wide range of technical service.
The Grand Prix is opened to Golden Diploma choirs and those qualified via the Budapest International Open Competition. Choirs can apply in different categories like Children’s and Youth Choirs, Female, Male and Mixed Choirs, Musica Sacra, Pop, Jazz, Gospel, Modern & Folklore, Chamber Choirs & Vocal Ensembles.
The Budapest International Open Competition is opened for all non-professional choirs. We use InChoral Evaluation System, originated by our Artistic Director Gábor Hollerung Besides the take part at educational festival activities, such as Evaluation Performances, Jury & Conductor’s Meetings, Individual Coaching, meeting in music concerts, Meet ’n Sing: joint singing and get together, Choir Lounge and lot more!
